Tour Presented by Andrew Stewart and family
Yan Yan Gurt West is a regenerative sheep and agroforestry farm nestled in the beautiful foothills of the Otway Ranges.
Our family has been caretaking this property for 5 generations. There has been a strong ethos of stewardship for both the natural landscape, its flora and fauna, and the requirements of a successful farming business.
Having incorporated over 40,000 trees and shrubs into the farming landscape we are creating a robust ecosystem fostering biodiversity along with sheep and forestry production that will be resilient in the face of climate change.
Recently we have established a food & flower forest of native flowers and bush foods. We also have an earthen cob cottage built on the property, a creative example of combined methods in natural, sustainable building techniques using timber, clay, ochre, wool and stone sourced from the property.
You’ve got the opportunity to share our inspiration and learn more about our passion for wellbeing and abundance.
The guided tour will include:
- Farm walk focusing on the agroforestry and re-generative farming principles
- Operational Historic woolshed – built in 1888
- Working dog demonstration
- Natural building display and discussion

OPTIONAL MORNING TOUR of Bambra Agroforestry Farm: Join the Rowan Reid for a tour of the Bambra Agroforestry Farm. Rowan Reid planted his first trees in 1987. His idea was to establish an outdoor education centre for agroforestry where landholders could explore the opportunities to integrate commercial trees into their farming landscape for conservation, aesthetics and profit. "I wanted to make the act of planting trees – and cutting them down for high quality timber – attractive to farmers."
